In 1898 Granville Redmond returned to the United States and settled in Los Angeles. He enjoyed creating paintings of Laguna Beach, Catalina Island and San Pedro. Charlie Chaplin was a friend of Granville Redmond and also a ardent supporter of his art and paintings. Charlie Chaplin was such an admirer of Granville Seymour Redmond that he gave him a painting studio on his movie lot plus a number of small parts in his films.
Granville Redmond submitted paintings to major California art exhibitions and achieved notoriety for his artwork. He traveled throughout the area creating California landscape paintings and utilized very vivid colors. He is best known for his paintings of the rolling hills of California, especially scenes that include poppies and lupine and other wildflowers. It was later in Granville Redmond's career that he began to utilize techniques of Pointillism in his paintings.
Granville Redmond died in Los Angeles, California in 1935.
