The mission of the John Gamble Gallery of Art is to provide an unparalleled resource for the preservation, collecting, exhibiting and sales of paintings by John Marshall Gamble (1863-1957).

An important early California Plein-Air Impressionist artist, John Marshall Gamble is best known for his paintings of California poppies, lupine and other wild flowers against the greens and purples of the rolling California coastal hills. After his studio and paintings were destroyed in the 1906 earthquake of San Francsico, John Gamble moved to Santa Barbara and lived the rest of his life there painting the native beauty of the California landscape.
