The artist could draw a commission of $500 for a painting in 1942 and was the preferred portrait artist of many celebrity horses, including Roy Rogers' horse "Trigger". The paintings of Olaf Wieghorst are held today by many collectors of Western art.
Olaf Wiehhorst lived a long life and passed away in 1988 at the age of eighty eight in La Mesa, California.
